Florida - Days 1 & 2

I arrived in Sarasota at about 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. I had a five hour layover in Charlotte and was so tired I spread out my hoodie and slept on the floor for two hours. Dad was waiting for me when I got off the plane. We came home, had lunch, he showed me around the place and I took a three hour nap. When I woke up, we had dinner, went for a walk around the park, watched football, sat out on the lanai and ate Chex mix.

This morning I awoke to the smell of coffee and ham. I sat on the couch and groggily drank a cup with Dad, then had a boiled egg, toast and piece of ham for breakfast. We packed a lunch and went to Robinson's Preserve - a very pretty, natural wetland with trails made out of shells. We walked 2.2 miles and saw a bunch of wildlife - mostly birds and fish. I saw an egret, pelican, stork, and heron and schools and schools of fish. You'll see a picture of them later. We climbed stairs to a viewing area which gave us a nice look at Tampa Bay and the surrounding area. When we were done at the Preserve, we drove to a beach on Anna Maria Island and had our picnic. We took our lawn chairs but ended up walking down to the shore instead. It was really windy. I took pictures and waded in the water but Dad was getting cold so we packed up, stopped to do some grocery shopping and came home. For dinner tonight we had fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes. Dad had ice cream. I did not. Now we are listening to Christmas music. Dad is reading and I'm working on the blog. When I'm done, I'll make a few phone calls, read awhile and go to bed. The fresh air was great but I am feeling very sleepy.
